Kansas offers two property tax programs for older adults: the Homestead claim (K-40H) and the Property Tax Relief claim (K-40PT). For a Homestead claim, your refund percentage is based on your total household income and the refund is a percentage of your general property tax. The amount of property tax allowed cannot exceed $700, and the maximum refund is $700. For a Property Tax Relief claim, the refund is 75% of the property taxes actually and timely paid on real or personal property used as your principal residence.
