Louisiana Program Eligibility

Property Tax-Aide features the Homestead Exemption and the Special Assessment Level Freeze for Louisiana.

The information on this page is updated as new information becomes available by the relevant tax agencies.

Homestead Exemption

The Louisiana homestead exemption is a tax exemption on the first $75,000 of the value of a person’s home. This exemption applies to all homeowners. No matter how many houses are owned, only one homestead exemption can be claimed, which is a maximum of $7,500 of assessed value.

Application Deadline

Please consult your local assessor for exact deadlines as they may differ from parish to parish.

Special Assessment Level Freeze

A Special Assessment Level Freeze applies to the homestead of persons who are 65 years of age and older or permanently disabled and adjusted gross income is $100,000 or less. The level may change from year to year, so it is advisable to check with your assessor’s office to determine whether you qualify. This special assessment will freeze the assessed value of the homestead for as long as the applicant owns and resides in the home and income does not exceed the maximum allowed.
